Eat and drink

Gothenburg has a lot to offer foodies of all kinds. Get your evening started with a glass of good wine accompanied by jazz music at Unity Jazz before you continue on to one of the many restaurants where you can enjoy a romantic dinner for two. How about a cosy ambience at charming Ilse Grøn Krog or the relaxed late evening vibe at Bee kök & bar?

Take your love to a new heights

Gaze into each other’s eyes, and take in the view of the city. One of many popular viewpoints in Gothenburg is the fortress Skansen Kronan where you can share a breathtaking sunset with your love. Make the outing extra luxurious with for instance some French pastries and pralines from Sylvain Marron. Masthuggskyrkan is another highlight, and if you want to celebrate with a Swedish fika or a dinner – and the weather doesn’t agree with an outdoor picnic – a visit to Heaven 23 also offers stunning views.

Green oasis

Romance and beautiful always flowers go well together. Stroll hand in hand through Slottsskogen, see how far spring has come in the Botanical Garden, or enjoy the sheer magic of tropic heat and exotic plants in the Palm House in the Garden Society.

The sea

From the canals and the river Göta Älv to the harbour and the characteristic archipelago, the water is a much loved part of Gothenburg. If you take a ferry out to the islands there are lots of lovely jewels to explore. The beautiful footpaths of Vrångö and the yearly Valentine’s celebration at Restaurant Tullhuset are two of them. If you want to stay in the city, a peaceful stroll along the North Shore offers beautiful views as well as cosy cafés, and piers where you can really get a feel for Gothenburg as a maritime city.

Just relax

Treat your special someone to a day at the spa! You’ll find lots of options in Gothenburg, either you want to relax or recharge. Iconic Hagabadet in the city centre and Arken with its beautiful sea view are two examples if you want to spend Valentine’s at a spa, but there are many more to choose from.

Romantic neighbourhoods, museums and indie films

Go for a leisurely stroll in Haga, enjoying the picturesque smalltown atmosphere in the city centre. Share a plate-sized cinnamon bun, making your best Lady and the Tramp impression, at one of the many cafés. Or saunter on to Magasinsgatan, a given rendezvous with lots of restaurants and shops, all offering something special. Another romantic spot can be found at Lejontrappan, next to Brunnsparken, where a giant heart has been raised in the name of love. Why not take a break from the bustling everyday life and enjoy the art collections at one of the museums? Finish your evening with a movie at classic Bio Roy or one of the other cinemas in the city.
